The Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin dudes are back with a brand new double album - Tape Club - which features 26 songs that span the entire length of their 10 years together. Many of the songs have never been heard before and document the story of the band aurally - beginning with lo-fi home recordings (of the type found on their self-recorded debut Broom) and ending with more polished studio tracks (like those found on the Chris Walla-produced Let It Sway).
Tape Club comes out Oct. 18th and is now up for for pre-order through our online store. It's available on limited edition 180-gram maroon or black 2xLP, CD, and digital formats. The maroon vinyl is limited to just 500 copies, so you may wanna act fast!

After touring together during the 2011 Reptilians tour, STRFKR and Champagne Champagne wanted to commemorate their time on the road with a split 7", so we made it happen! The new split 7" is now available for pre-order through our online store. It comes on clear green vinyl (limited to 1,000) + instant MP3 download code at checkout.
The A-side features STRFKR's "Dragon Queens" which became a crowd favorite during the band's Spring 2011 tour in support of their last album, Reptilians. A different version of "Dragon Queens" will be featured on the upcoming STRFKR full-length, slated for release in early 2012
The B-side is the Champagne Champagne original "I Fell Through." Champagne Champagne features two MCs along with their producer Mark Gajadhar (of Blood Brothers, Past Lives). Champagne Champagne is also currently working on a new full-length.
The fine folks over at the A.V. Club have posted an exclusive pre-release stream of Braid's entire new EP Closer to Closed. The EP, which is the first original material from the band in 11 years, features three new tracks and a cover of Jeff Hanson's "You Are The Reason." Deerhoof has announced the latest installment in their collaborative 7" series, in which another artist takes a stab at vocals over a previously-released Deerhoof song. This time? None other than Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy himself sings on "Behold a Marvel in the Darkness" for the A-Side collaboration titled "Behold a Raccoon in the Darkness." The B-Side features the first recorded release from Jeff Tweedy's new side project, The Raccoonists, which consists of Tweedy and his two sons Spencer and Sam. The B Side track is titled "Own It" and you can stream both tracks over at Pitchfork by clicking the link below. Casiokids have announced their new album Aabenbaringen over aaskammen and it's available for pre-order through our online store. Aabenbaringen over aaskammen, which roughly translates to "the revelation over the mountain," is much more cohesive than the collection of Moshi Moshi singles and double A-sided 7" tracks that comprised Topp stemning pa lokal bar. Love of Everything is the solo project of Joan of Arc bassist Bobby Burg (also of Make Believe and Vacations). Sooner I Wish is the latest installment in the Love of Everything discography. Written in the wake of Burg's divorce, the 7" is his most personal work to date, and was recorded live with a loop pedal and no overdubs except on the vocals. The 7" is available on black and white vinyl. The white vinyl is limited to 300 copies and available only through the Polyvinyl store. Hey Pele fans, listen up! We just reissued the band's beautiful fourth album, The Nudes, on 180 gram mixed color vinyl + instant MP3 and it's available today!
If you're unfamiliar with Pele (or this release), the band recorded The Nudes in various basements and living rooms throughout early 2000. Members of Pele later went on to perform in bands such as Collections of Colonies of Bees and Volcano Choir (w/ Justin Vernon of Bon Iver).

After his last time touring the United States in support of 2009's Dear John, Loney Dear's primary member Emil Svanängen returned home to Sweden and began to play shows with chamber orchestras throughout the country. This experience had an indelible influence on the writing and recording of the appropriately titled Hall Music, an expansive record that finds Svanangen closer to creating the type of orchestral music he has always sought to bring to life on stage (whether he's actually playing with an orchestra or not).

Pitchfork announced Japan 3.11.11, a Polyvinyl benefit album aimed at supporting Japan Tsunami relief efforts. The compilation spans 23 tracks (nearly all previously unreleased) from artists such as of Montreal, Deerhoof, David Bazan, Xiu Xiu, Love Is All, Casiokids, STRFKR, Efterklang, Owen and many, many more. All profits go to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief effort. The compilation is available digitally and on limited-edition red vinyl from the Polyvinyl store. NPR recently featured artist David Barnes' new book, What's Weird?, on their blog All Songs Considered. The feature includes excerpts from the book and exclusive commentary from Barnes about the history behind some of his work. Deerhoof's newest split 7", WOOM on Hoof, is out today. WOOM on Hoof is the latest in a series of collaborative 7”s featuring guest vocalists singing self-composed lyrics over a Deerhoof instrumental track. Side A features SF/NYC-based WOOM (Ba Da Bing) on Deerhoof’s “Must Fight Current.” Side B features the WOOM song “Quetzalcoatl’s Ship” mixed by Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier. Red Hot Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to battling AIDS, has created a compilation called Red Hot + Rio 2, a tribute to 1960s Brazilian psychedelic music. Veteran psych rockers teamed up with modern day indie musicians, including of Montreal, Beck, and Beirut, to record new versions of old songs. of Montreal paired up with Os Mutantes for a version of "Bat Macumba," a song you probably know from late night dance parties.
