Thursday's are good days for AWESOME release announcements right? I'd say so, because we're hitting you with something new from Japandroids - No Singles, out May 11th.
Before their critically acclaimed full-length Post-Nothing, Japandroids released two 5-song EPs ( All Lies and Lullaby Death Jams) on good ole CD-Rs. The EPs were limited to 500 copies and quickly sold out. No Singles compiles these two EPs into one album.
With beautiful packaging designed by the band along with a 11" x 11" 32-page booklet featuring rare photos and fliers detailing the band's early history, No Singles illustrates how Japandroids would go on to land spots on over 30 year-end lists for 2009.
No Singles was mastered by John Golden (The Melvins, Nirvana) and will be available on CD+MP3 and LP+MP3 (deluxe double gatefold,180-gram black or white). All orders will include an instant digital download code on ship date, 4/30, so you can have the music while you wait for your record to arrive! Follow the links below to pre-order your copy and to see what Pitchfork and Exclaim have to say about the release announcement. Hide More

Ready for some new Japandroids songs? Sure you are! 2009 was a busy year for Japandroids. Their nonstop touring schedule didn't leave much time for recording another full-length, so Brian and Dave devised a 5-part 7" series as a way to give back to all of you!
As reported by Pitchfork earlier today, each 7" will feature a previously unreleased track written during the Post-Nothing sessions along with a cover. The first installment, Art Czars, features the title track along with a Big Black cover of "Racer X", a live favorite. Recorded during a brief break between tours and mastered by John Golden, Art Czars will be released on April 13th on clear vinyl (limited edition of 2000) along with a digital download code. Follow the link below to pre-order your copy.
On top of Pitchfork's post about the single series, other outlets have posted about it including Exclaim, SPIN, Village Voice, Under The Radar, and more. Check them all out by clicking the links below. Hide More

Alright my friends, the day has arrived! Japandroids' latest 7" single Art Czars is out now on clear vinyl, equipped with digital download code! To celebrate the release, SPIN is exclusively streaming the B-side "Racer X," right now on their website! Now's your chance to go get a preview.
The single has done so well, that we're already sold out of them through mailorder! But don't worry, you can still buy the MP3s from our digital store or by catching the band at an upcoming show. They've still got a few left! Follow the links below to purchase Art Czars and to check out the feature on SPIN.
Art Czars is the first of a 5 part series that will be released throughout 2010. Since Japandroids tour so much, they haven't had a chance to get into the studio to record a follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut, Post-Nothing, so they're releasing these singles as a way to give back to all of you! Each single will have an original song taken from the Post-Nothing sessions along with a cover. The first single contains the title track on the A-side along with a cover of Big Black's "Racer X" on the B-side." Hide More

Just like the Art Czars 7", Younger Us will be on limited clear vinyl and includes an instant MP3 download. Art Czars sold out before street date, so I'd advise you all to pre-order a copy of Younger Us for yourself while you can. Click the link below to order!

Younger Us is the 2nd installment of the 5-part 7" series devised by the band as a way to give something back to fans. These five 7"s each have a track from the Post-Nothing sessions along with a cover on the B-side. Younger Us (limited to 2500 copies) features the title track on the A-side along with a cover of X's "Sex and Dying in High Society" on the B-side.

Sharon Van Etten - I'm Giving Up On You
We're super excited about the release of I'm Giving Up On You. After her critically acclaimed debut Because I Was In Love, Sharon Van Etten has been hard at work on various projects - singing on The Antlers album Hospice, performing at Pitchfork Music Festival, and collaborating live with the likes of Bon Iver and The National. On top of all of this, along with recording her sophmore album Epic (to be released Oct. 5th on Ba Da Bing), Sharon found time to record 2 exclusive songs for the I'm Giving Up On You 7". This one is limited to 500 copies on black vinyl + MP3. Get it while you can!
Deerhoof / Physical Forms - Hoofdriver
Another one we're SUPER excited for! This 7" spawned from the mind of Regan Farquhar, better known as Busdriver (LA-based MC who has released several albums on ANTI-). Side A of Hoofdriver features Farquhar singing over a Deerhoof instrumental track. Side B features Farquhar's latest project, Physical Forms, which features members of The Mae Shi. Hoofdriver is the first of a possible series of Deerhoof 7"s featuring guest vocalists singing self-composed lyrics and new vocal melodies over original Deerhoof compositions. This one comes on yellow vinyl + MP3 and is limited to 1000 copies.Hide More

It's new release week here at Polyvinyl and this time we're hitting you with two amazing releases! Both Japandroids' Post-Nothing and Cale Parks' To Swift Mars EP are out now and available for purchase at the PV online store.
Pitchfork gave Post-Nothing "Best New Music" and calls it "terminally catchy music played with punk's enthusiasm and velocity." To Swift Mars is also getting tons of great reviews in various outlets such as SPIN Magazine, who states, "opener "Eyes Won't Shut" channels Junior Boys' seductive electro-pop while the organ-heavy "Knight Conversation" evokes Beach House's languid balladry."
