After his last time touring the United States in support of 2009's Dear John, Loney Dear's primary member Emil Svanängen returned home to Sweden and began to play shows with chamber orchestras throughout the country. This experience had an indelible influence on the writing and recording of the appropriately titled Hall Music, an expansive record that finds Svanangen closer to creating the type of orchestral music he has always sought to bring to life on stage (whether he's actually playing with an orchestra or not).
Hall Music, Loney Dear's fifth album and second on Polyvinyl, will be available on October 4, 2011, on 180 gram cyan-colored vinyl, CD, and MP3 formats. Even though Christmas has come and gone, we're still full of holiday cheer, and so is Loney Dear! On Christmas Eve, Emil and friends had the chance to perform with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra as part of the event Popical. Stenhammarsalen joined the band on marimba, drums, and strings making this concert quite the spectacle. Sveriges Radio has the whole concert streaming on their website for FREE.
