Coke Machine Glow crafted an awesome review of Shugo Tokumaru's Port Entropy that delves deep and takes a serious look into Tokumaru's bedroom constructions. Coke Machine Glow said the album "strides boldly in a new direction, both more frenetic and more focused. It’s a big, relentlessly surging folk-pop song suite." We're slowing making our way to the release of Cale Parks' new EP To Swift Mars with less than a week to go! Baeble had some great things to say about the EP with tons of New Wave comparrisons that make you want to "float high above the rooftops of a plasticine city." Sounds pretty good to me! Follow the link below to read the entire review and don't forget to pre-order To Swift Mars!
The great new movie BAGHEAD from The Duplass Brothers (Mark Duplass, leader of Volcano, I’m Still Excited!!) premieres throughout the country over the next few weeks. Catch it in NYC and LA July 25 and nationwide throughout August.
Here’s what the guys had to say about it:
"While the Duplass Brothers were shooting their last feature film The Puffy Chair, a crew member raised the question “what’s the scariest thing you can think of?” Someone immediately said “a guy with a bag on his head staring into your window.” Some agreed, but some thought it was downright ridiculous and, if anything, funny (but definitely not scary). Thus, BAGHEAD was born, an attempt to take the absurdly low-concept idea of a “guy with a bag on his head” and make a funny, truthful, endearing film that, maybe, just maybe, was a little bit scary, too."

The pop superstar Beyonce was recenlty interviewed by the Guardian for their Artist of the Decade feature and when asked who she'd like to work with in the future, she name drops our very own of Montreal! Who knows, maybe we'll get Beyonce to become a Sunlandic ninja!
In response to Beyonce's interest, Kevin Barnes told Paste, "There is a reason why she's the most popular vocalist of our time. I would be fully psyched to work with her." In addition to the Guardian, tons of other publications have posted the news, including SPIN, Pitchfork, Exclaim, Prefix, and more. Check out the interview by clicking the links below.
Birthmark's new album, Antibodies, is officially out today on CD / LP / MP3 formats worldwide! The album is available directly through our online store, or at your favorite local record shop (LPs are limited to just 1000 on 180-gram white vinyl). The album is also available on iTunes right HERE.
Stream the first single "Stuck" below.
Birthmark is the solo project of Nate Kinsella, a name you might recognize from Chicago based bands Joan of Arc & Make Believe. With Antibodies, Kinsella's 3rd release under the Birthmark moniker, musical boundaries continue to be pushed. From vibraphones to violins, cellos to clarinets, each instrument on the album was played either by Kinsella or a session musician. Even the stunning backwards string section on "Shake Hands" was painstakingly composed and performed with an actual string quartet.
Antibodies has already been getting praised from various music publications worldwide. The 405 calls Antibodies "one of the best things Kinsella has ever done," while Under the Radar gets directly to the point in stating, "Birthmark does it right." Antibodies also landed in ALARM'S "Best Albums of the Week" feature.

Polyvinyl OG's Braid are reuniting to record more songs! We can't exactly tell you how many, or when they'll be released other than sometime in 2011, but take solace in the fact that the band is headed back into the studio with J. Robbins, who tracked Braid's swan song album Frame and Canvas. The Onion A.V. Club broke the story last week, and shortly thereafter Braid singer / guitarist Bob Nanna followed up on his Tumblr, saying: "the four of us in a room, writing songs, well, that just straight up means Braid is back together. And that’s exciting...Insane that 12 years later, we could pick up right where we left off." Click the link below to head over to The Onion A.V. Club, or straight to Bob's Tumblr.
