If you're sitting there going "dang, I didn't even know about this until just now!" Well, first of all, shame on you. Secondly, take a listen to one of the band's new singles, "Young Presidents," below and get yourself up to speed!
See. Amazing, just like I told you right?
For Fly By Wire, the band took it back to where it all began, up in guitarist Will Knauer's attic in their hometown of Springfield, MO (the same attic that their critcally acclaimed debut album, Broom, was recorded in). Fly By Wire has many of the same characteristics as Broom, but with a few new twists and turns.
"In a modest yet striking feat, this Missouri combo blends late Beatles and prime Beach Boys to create a fresh and moving gem." -Mother Jones
"Buoyant, unassumingly ornate, and gently urgent...SSLYBY hasn't shed an ounce of its charm." - Magnet

Seattle's Pillar Point is getting tons of remix love lately, and we just have to share it with you. Over in My Old Kentucky Blog land there's a piano driven Ruby Sun remix of "Dreamin", and on Vice's thumper blog Generationals have given "a rubbery bassline" to "Diamond Mine". Check both out below.
The Dodos decided to kick off a MASSIVE fall tour by playing on The Late Show with David Letterman last week. So, did everyone stay up to watch? Even if you didn't make it (like me), you can still watch them performing "Confidence" through the powers of the wonderful world wide web, er, I mean the video above.
Generationals sat down for a super intimate Amoeba Green Room Session in Hollywood during their last US tour. Check out the video above of them playing "Spinoza" off of their spring released album, Heza, or follow the link below for the full performance!
Woah, it's an awesome day. The sun is shining in San Francisco, I'm going to buy a churro later, but mainly it's rad because I get to share this full performance of Generationals on KEXP with all of you guys. Watch it above, and don't forget to check out their latest album Heza if you haven't already.

The day is finally here! The Dodos' new album, Carrier, is officially out now. Carrier is the band's 5th full-length album (1st for Polyvinyl) and features some of the band's best work yet. The album is available on CD, LP (limited edition 180-gram "glacier blue" vinyl) and cassette through our E-store (or at your favorite local record shop). It's also available digitally through iTunes, Amazon MP3, Spotify, and Rdio.
Recorded at John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone Studios in the band's hometown of San Francisco, CA, Carrier features honest, beautiful songwriting which pays homage to Christopher Reimer, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 26 in 2012. Reimer was one of two guitarists for the band Women and eventually became a touring member of The Dodos towards the end of his life. He was a huge influence on The Dodos' guitarist/vocalist Meric Long.
"Chris was a huge influence on the way I think about guitar, songwriting, and music in general," reveals Long. "Seeing how he could transform and shape sound with an electric guitar inspired me to explore more tones and use those tones to begin writing a song."
Carrier has already received mutiple accolades through various music publications:
"Carrier is clearly a heavy load, but The Dodos hold it aloft with grace." ★★★★★ -eMusic
"...the lyrics on Carrier stand as the most meaningful in their catalog, making their newest album stand once again as the band’s best yet." -FILTER Hide More

There's a new of Montreal song out in the world. Let us rejoice!
Rolling Stone debuted the new track "She Ain't Speakin' Now" from the band's upcoming album, Lousy with Sylvianbriar, earlier today RIGHT HERE. The song "opens with quiet, late 1960s-style vocals backed by acoustic guitar and a melody that calls back to the Carpenter's 'Top of the World.'" But like most of Montreal songs, it gets a little crazier as time progresses.
Head over to Rolling Stone to check out the track and to read a short interview with Kevin Barnes about the making of the song.
Late last year, Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good To Me) released his 7th solo album, Kuma, on Ernest Jenning Record Co. Video director Ariana Franks recently made this beautiful video for the song "Your Love Is Everywhere." Check it out above.
Check out the new Generationals video for the Heza track "Say When," which recently debuted on Noisey. The video was directed by Jason Jurgens and is one continuous shot the entire time. Watch it above.

Joan of Arc's latest full-length album, Testimonium Songs, is officialy out today! The album is available on magenta vinyl (see above), CD, cassette (purple tape), and digital formats. All physical formats are limited edition, so be sure to grab them while you can. Check everything out at our E-store RIGHT HERE, or grab the album on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Spotify, or Rdio.
Testimonium Songs collects the song cycle composed by Joan of Arc (Tim Kinsella, Bobby Burg, and Theo Katsaounis) to be performed live in Testimonium, a work of performance by well-respected experimental theater ensemble Every House Has a Door.
Testimonium responds -- both in substance and in style -- to Charles Reznikoff’s monumental work Testimony, a translation into poetry of courtroom transcripts of witness and victim testimonies in criminal cases and cases of workplace negligence, in the US, spanning the years 1885 to 1915.
Performances of Testimonium incorporate modern dance, theater, and original songs written and played by Joan of Arc.
In a departure for the band, these highly structured compositions, developed over a two-year rehearsal period, emulate Reznikoff’s poetics by shaping themselves according to a mosaic method – rotating a fixed set of musical units in warping permutations. Listen to the first track, "Amelia," below.
The lyrics re-invent the strategies of Objectivist poetry, by turns surreal, ordinary, testimonial, and explosive, releasing the undercurrent of emotion in the poems while (almost) never quoting them directly.
Beyond collecting the Testimonium Songs, the record has a life of its own, with the contributions of stellar musicians David Grubbs, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Michael Zerang, and Jim Baker, additional vocals by Melina Ausikaitis, and musical material not included in the performance.
