From All Music Guide:
A five-track stop-gap release issued in anticipation of Ida's forthcoming major label debut, Losing True resonates with the same off-kilter beauty and melancholy which distinguished the preceding Ten Small Paces; while lacking that record's cumulative power, this EP is still anything but a throwaway, representing yet another considerable push forward in the group's evolution. The inclusion of subtle flourishes like cellos, standup basses and even a Wurlitzer add new dimensions to the core Ida sound, as tracks like "Best of the Belated" and "Turn Me On" achieve a dreamy intensity inconceivable in any of the group's earlier, more spartan configurations; perhaps the most impressive addition of all continues to be newest member Karla Schickele, who contributes the poignantly fractured piano ballad "Tiger Dare."
