Watch the cinematic and moving music video for The Dodos' new single "SW3" featuring Shaolin teenagers
Posted 09/19/2018

The Dodos sure know how to make a music video. Today they deliver a new track with a stunning video companion for "SW3". Achieving a frantic vitality, “SW3” intertwines acoustic guitar and clicking drumsticks into a beautifully syncopated rhythm that sounds like quintessential Dodos. Working with a group of Shaolin teenagers, video director Ryan Daniel Browne initially had a vision of student Queena Tran practicing her form in the park and in front of her instructor. However two days prior to filming, Queena and her friends decided to choreograph an entire fight scene instead, and the music video quickly transformed. Watch below.

The Dodos - guitarist Meric Long and percussionist Logan Kroeber - will release their seventh studio album Certainty Waves on October 12th. The band celebrated the 10 year anniversary of their breakout sophomore record Visiter in 2018, and Certainty Waves finds The Dodos going back to that album’s roots, embracing the unlimited possibilities of a time when there were no preconceptions of what the band should sound like. The title Certainty Waves reflects the idea that what once seemed so certain will likely prove not to be in the future. That it was only a wave passing by.

“Certainty Waves is our midlife crisis record,” says Long. “Who we thought we were, how mistaken we were, how an interference in the trajectory can flip your understanding of what came before.”
