Having received rave reviews from the New York Times, Nylon, Under the Radar, YRB, XLR8R, and many more, NYC’s Asobi Seksu makes its Polyvinyl debut with this 7" precursor to the 2009 full-length Hush.

As its captivating live show attests, Asobi Seksu have outgrown the comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and others, and are finally realizing their potential as one of New York’s greatest bands.

Reviews

Following on in a similar vein to "New Year", its fast paced swirl of textured guitars and ethereal vocals sounding like an energised take on Lush, or even a more incessantly vibrant Slowdive that swoons with the stars from the first note to last.

Contact Music

A fast-paced affair full of frantic energy, it wastes no time in leaping headfirst in, and is reminiscent of "Goodbye" to compare lazily to previous Seksu offerings.

The Four Oh Five

"Me & Mary" is the consummate single, checking all the requisite boxes - catchy, succinct, conventionally structured and quick to get going.

The Skinny

Though the layers of reverb, ever-ringing background soundscapes, and Chikudate's English-and-Japanese vocals resemble the best of Citrus, "Me & Mary"'s chainsaw guitars, ambient keyboard melodies, and bridges of skittering blips show a new more adventurous side to the band.
