"Both of us grew up with alcoholic mothers and sharing that formative experience is what tethered us together in the first place,” explain Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten.
“While Welcome to My Blue Sky is mainly written about romantic hardship, during that time period we also were starting to come to terms with our own relationship with alcohol. ‘Not Sacred’ is about us growing up and starting to see ourselves in our mothers, which allowed us to gain a sense of connection to them as adults.”
