In addition to sharing two brilliant and infectious new songs (“Man or Myth” & “Aquarium”), Being Dead – the beloved Austin trio of co-lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalists Falcon Bitch, Cody Dosier, and bassist Nicole Roman-Johnston – caps off 2026 by announcing their signing to Midwest label Polyvinyl Records. Recorded with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (Death Cab for Cutie, Angel Olsen, Alvvays), the new singles give fans a preview of what they've been working on since the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, EELS (2024).
Being Dead come racing out the gates with “Man or Myth”, a driving, irresistible slice of hooky, psych-tinged art-pop inspired by the legendary freestyle canoeist - the man, the myth, the icon - Marc Ornstein. “Aquarium” explores the taboo nature of falling in love in the workplace, re-telling the true story of Peter and Margaret, for whom things certainly went a little too far. Sonically, the track opens with a mellow, melodic guitar progression that acts as the backbone for the entire song. Things quickly open up and evolve into something bigger, with a warm, lead guitar line that weaves and warbles into the payoff, "Am I floating? Love is growing."
These two new songs mark a triumphant new chapter for Being Dead—the music is as strange as it is immediate, and as unpredictable as it is impossible to shake.
